This paper will
explore the four key development vectors for next-generation handset design:
process technology (including GaAs developments), packaging advances and new
system architectures and comprehensive system integration. These development areas will facilitate the
industry’s transition to 2.5G services, including packet enhancements for GSM,
and 3G services, which will enable high-speed multimedia voice, video and data
capabilities.
